According to Oxford Dictionaries a vaccine is a substance used to stimulate the production of antibodies and provide immunity against one or several diseases, prepared from the causative agent of a disease treated to act as an antigen without inducing the disease.

This program looks at the science behind vaccines- what they are, how they work, the various types and how they are made.  The worries swirling around immunization are addressed in conjunction with the importance of adequate vaccination rates to control and eliminate life-threatening infectious diseases. Even the latest advances to help fight pandemics and stimulate immune systems to fight diseases such as cancer are discussed.
